The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) last week suspended some scheduled services of Air China and China Eastern Airlines at Beijing Capital International Airport, due to repeated delays. This was only a very small part of total operations. But it was significant because it was part of a programme to reduce congestion and ensure the smooth running of the airport in the lead-up to the 2008 Olympic Games, now just 12 months away.

Virgin Atlantic is set to offer its passengers a great incentive to get their holidays off to the best start. Between the 1 August and 30 September this year all passengers travelling from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester Airports who check in online will receive £6 off for every £30 spent onboard Virgin Atlantic flights.
