China Express Airlines has signed a purchase agreement in Beijing with Canada’s Bombardier Aerospace for 24 CRJ900 aircraft at close to US$1 billion, a record deal in China for Bombardier Aerospace.
China Express Airlines, with a fleet of 11 CRJ900 aircraft, is Bombardier Aerospace’s biggest partner in China and is the only domestic airline that uses their aircraft exclusively. The CRJ series’ high safety ratio and compliance with eco-standards make it the top choice for private jets of government leaders in various countries.
The aircraft will be delivered in 2015-2017 and will further expand China Express Airlines’ fleet. The aircraft features ultra–thin seats offering an extra inch of legroom to enhance comfort for passengers, and low-resistance wing tips that will add 5.5% to fuel efficiency.
It has been a big year for China Express Airlines, which announced in the first half of this year the overhauling of its fleet to a fuel-efficient aircraft type and the signing of a code-share agreement with Air China.(Translation by David)
