Holiday demand shifted abroad—regional hubs led, while long-haul made a strong return.

Tongcheng Travel data further confirmed this trend: bookings for Europe group tours from lower-tier cities increased by over 140% year-on-year, while group tours to the Americas grew by more than 32%.

From Tongcheng Travel’s vacation retail channels, long-haul outbound group tours nearly doubled compared to last year—significantly outpacing short-haul ones.

Among international hotel bookings, the five fastest-growing overseas destinations were Saudi Arabia, Egypt, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates, with the Middle East and Africa standing out for exceptional growth.

Another notable trend was the rising popularity of customized overseas car tours.

Trip.com data shows that bookings for such trips increased by over 120%, with transaction volumes in Sri Lanka tripling year on year—highlighting travelers’ growing appetite for deeper, more immersive experiences.
