CHINAonline, the leading hotel direct connection technology provider in China, and Expedia, Inc., the world’s largest online travel company, are working together to extend the reach of hundreds of hotel properties throughout China to the millions of travelers who shop and book travel on more than 90 Expedia® and Hotels.com® sites across the globe. Under the new agreement CHINAonline will facilitate the direct connection of select Chinese hotels to Expedia’s global marketplace. The relationship between Expedia and CHINAonline enables Expedia to extend its reach to more hotels in China, and enhances the ability for Chinese hotel properties to maximize their online reach to a global audience of travelers.
“Expedia is excited to welcome many more Chinese hotel properties into our global marketplace as a result of our agreement with CHINAonline,” said Peter Lee, Expedia director of market management for China. “We have a team of hotel distribution and revenue management experts located throughout Asia, who are here to help our hotel partners reach our unmatched global audience of travelers. This agreement helps us to be even more effective in those efforts.”
Upon implementing the interface with CHINAonline, Expedia will add between 200 and 300 new hotel properties in China to its global selection. These properties will enter a new era of real-time hotel distribution, a dramatic departure from current manual operations. Expedia and its hotel partners will be able to exchange information regarding rates, inventory and reservations in real time.
“We are very glad that Expedia chose to work with CHINAonline to grow its selection of hotels in China,” said David Cai, general manager of CHINAonline. “Expedia’s unmatched global audience gives CHINAonline a strong foundation to help our hotel partners reach international consumer demand.”
