Published: 23 Sep 2008: Jet Airways has renewed its global distribution contract with Amadeus. The latest three-year distribution contract will make seats on Jet Airways and its wholly-owned subsidiary JetLite available through the Amadeus GDS.

Sudheer Raghavan, chief commercial officer, Jet Airways said the airline group is currently focusing on international expansion.

"With our fully-owned subsidiary Jet Lite, acquired in 2007, the group has enhanced its services by opening up air travel to a whole new segment of the market, bringing affordable travel to millions. Our partnership with Amadeus will support this growth," he said.

Further details weren´t shared. For full service airlines, in the wake of dropping yields versus increasing distribution cost, the likes of Jet Airways clearly are looking for change in GDS pricing strategies. For them, commissions and incentives are major cost items.

As per the information available, Jet´s total `commission´ and `other selling and distribution expenditure´ during the October – December 2007 quarter was US$66 million. Total `commission´-related expenditure was around US$40 million.
