(13 May 2008)Monstertravel.co.uk, a new online travel agency created by a former Thomson Holidays and Hays Travel executive, is to launch this week.
The company is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and includes a fully operational call centre and website, launched this week by David Hawke and Julie Gilmore.
Hawke was previously head of direct sales at Thomson and sales director at Hays Travel.
The site will use the Co-Operative group for its bonding and commercial activity.
Hawke said: “The travel market has changed over the last two years with large tour operators keen to work with quality agent partners again. At the same time, technology has advanced so that agents can help customers to build their own holidays from individual components.
“We aim to become the travel agent of choice, developing a reputation for competitive pricing and great service.”
Monstertravel’s initial marketing push will include search activity on Google, online advertising and a campaign across Teletext Holidays’ online and TV channels. An additional offline marketing push is also expected in the future.
