Shenzhen-based AI ski hardware startup Heygo recently announced that it had raised several million dollars in an angel round, with Houxue as the sole investor.
Founded just over a year ago, the company’s core team includes members with background at ByteDance, Tencent and DJI.
More intriguing than the size of the funding is why these people chose to leave high-profile roles at some of China’s leading technology companies to enter the challenging field of AI-powered ski hardware.
Heygo was founded in 2025. Founder Zhenhua Wu previously served as regional business head and head of user growth for Feishu at ByteDance, and was also CMO of Vika.
More than half of the team holds international ski instructor certifications, with some having worked as coaches and others even serving as judges at the Winter Olympics.
The idea behind Heygo came from a challenge the team encountered on the slopes: many technical aspects of skiing are difficult for skiers to identify on their own, limiting the effectiveness of traditional coaching.
The company spent a year building its AI training system, collecting real-world skiing data across multiple ski seasons to develop more precise feedback capabilities for snowboarders.
Its flagship product Heygo AI snowboard training hardware kit includes sensors mounted externally on ski boots, a companion mobile app and audio accessories.
Positioned as an affordable consumer product, the initial offering will launch in 38 countries worldwide, aiming to make AI-powered ski training tools more accessible to everyday enthusiasts.
