
In the third quarter of 2025, immigration authorities across China processed 178 million border crossings, an increase of 12.9% year on year. Among them were 89.372 million mainland residents and 68.731 million travelers from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, up 13.8% and 6.2%, respectively.
Nationwide, foreign nationals made 20.134 million crossings, a 22.3% year-on-year increase. Of these, 7.246 million foreigners entered China visa-free, accounting for 72.2% of total foreign entries, up 48.3% year on year.
In the first three quarters of this year, immigration authorities processed 510 million border crossings, 14.3% higher than last year, approaching a historical peak.
