The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel was hit by severe flooding late Tuesday night, with its basement entrance suspected to have burst under water pressure, allowing torrents to rush directly into the hotel. Some people at the scene were knocked over by the surge.
According to Hong Kong media, the hotel has confirmed that no guests or staff were injured.
The typhoon not only damaged hotels but also paralyzed transportation.
Earlier reports indicated that Hong Kong International Airport would shut down for 36 hours. Similar disruptions occurred at airports in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Macau, where widespread flight suspensions left passengers stranded.
Air China, China Southern, Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, and several other carriers issued refund and rescheduling policies, with some temporarily offering free changes and cancellations.
Data from Webb-site.com and VariFlight show that over 5,000 flights were canceled across the five airports of Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Macau, and Zhuhai during the two days affected by the typhoon, stranding large numbers of travelers and severely disrupting travel.
