Looking back, similar violent incidents have occurred within the civil aviation sector in China and abroad.
In March 2021, a Donghai Airlines flight from Shenzhen witnessed a physical altercation between the captain and a flight attendant mid-air.
Even more shocking was the 1987 Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 1771 tragedy. A former USAir employee, fired over theft and denied reinstatement, smuggled a gun onboard, fatally shot his former supervisor and the pilots during the flight, and caused the plane to crash, killing everyone on board.
