Capital A teams up with Trip.com for market reach across Asia 

Malaysia-based Capital A, parent company of AirAsia, announced last Friday it has signed a comprehensive partnership with China’s leading global travel service provider Trip.com Group, aimed at enhancing travel offerings and market reach across Asia. The strategic collaboration encompasses multiple lines of businesses, including AirAsia, and AirAsia MOVE for key areas of cooperation on innovative solutions spanning flights to accommodations, attractions and tickets, car-hailing, and payments.

Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism aims to welcome 1.5 million Chinese tourists to Bali in 2024. From 2023 data, it is projected that 707,000 Chinese tourists will visit the island. To facilitate this goal, Ngurah Rai Airport has partnered with 13 airlines to offer direct routes from China to Indonesia. Director of Regional Tourism Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wisnu Sindhutrisno, disclosed that the current seat capacity amounts to 1.1 million. He noted that Chinese tourists typically stay in Bali for 5-7 days, with 65% of visitors falling within the millennial demographic, while the remainder comprises individuals over 40 years old.

Chinese airlines increase flights to Kuala Lumpur

Sichuan Airlines and China Southern Airlines started new routes from Chengdu and Shenzhen in China to Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, over the Easter holiday. The daily flight will compete head-on with AirAsia X, which flies the same route daily, Batik Air four times weekly, and Air China daily. The average roundtrip fare on the route is USD330.

China Southern Airlines to add 17 international routes

China Southern Airlines launched its first flight between Beijing and Macau and said it plans to add 17 international routes, in a sign it expects a pick-up in international travel this year. The airline said at an event in Beijing the routes would be launched in the coming months before Oct. 26. The new routes would include Amsterdam, London, Doha, Riyadh and Tehran, executives from the airline said.
