Indian online travel community Oktatabyebye.com has come up with what is being described as country´s first-ever online bidding for travel packages. (12/12/2007)

According to the site, the reserve price for the bids are as low as US$12.5 or so to destinations like Manali, Goa, Shimla, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kodaikanal and Tirupathi. To start bidding, participants have to register themselves on the website -
www.oktatabyebye.com. The highest bidder of a package, on the closing day (bidding closes at 6pm) wins the package. Winners then have a choice to pay, online through a secure payment gateway, or offline, through cash.

On the initiative, Parthasarathi Mandal, Business Head, OKTTBB said, "Oktatabyebye.com is a platform committed to providing the most relevant (user-generated) travel information possible to both travel enthusiasts and travel shoppers. From discussions on our website, we identified a huge need for year-end vacation packages – at this juncture, travellers are unable to find packages offering destinations and amenities of their choice. This is why we decided to create some of the season´s most-wanted packages, and offer them to bidders at our website, at minimal reserve prices. We are confident that Indian travelers will keenly participate in the country´s first travel-package bid."

The community is all about travel in India and the best place for travel enthusiasts to find and share experiences and travel advice on India. It enables travelers to capture and share travelogs (travelogues), photos, features and recommendations with friends, family and members. Reviews and votes ensure that the information is always up-to-date, useful and remains transparent.
