As of December 31 last year, 31,578 travel agencies out of the nation’s total 42,432 travel agencies submitted their operational data to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The data showed that domestic tours organized by the travel agencies had drawn nearly 18.32 million travelers in the fourth quarter of last year. The total number of domestic tourists handled was 18.76 million.
The top 10 popular destinations for organized domestic tours in the fourth quarter were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hubei, Beijing, Jiangxi and Fujian.
In terms of domestic tourists handled, the top 10 destinations were Zhejiang, Hubei, Jiangsu, Hainan, Guangdong, Hunan, Anhui, Chongqing, Shanghai and Guizhou.
The total number of domestic free independent travelers was 84 million.
The top 10 destinations by the total number of organized and handled domestic trips were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, Shanghai, Chongqing, Anhui, Hainan and Jiangxi.
