AUGUST 20, 2007. “Our development in Puerto Rico has been growing at an excellent pace, on-target with our expectations for this Caribbean destination” said Raul Fuentes, director, emerging markets, Choice Hotels. “Puerto Rico is a major cornerstone for our Caribbean development, as it is currently one of the hottest development markets in that region.”
With three hotels slated to open in Puerto Rico this year, one newly-constructed Comfort Inn hotel and two newly-converted Quality Inn hotels, Choice is beginning to claim its title as a major player in the Caribbean market. The Comfort Inn & Suites hotel of Levittown, Puerto Rico will offer guests 60-rooms, all of which are ocean view, and an on-site restaurant with a 360-degree panoramic view, the Quality Inn El Tuque hotel of Ponce, Puerto Rico will be the first Choice-brand water park hotel in the Caribbean, and with 47-rooms the Quality Inn El Portal hotel of San Juan, Puerto Rico will offer business and leisure travelers the perfect downtown location.
“We’re very excited to be one of the first franchisees to work with Choice Hotels in Puerto Rico,” said Charlie Fuentes of Campomar Hotel & Restaurant Corporation, owner of the Comfort Inn & Suites hotel of Levittown, Puerto Rico. “Choice offers an outstanding reservations system, expertise in diversity and recognizable brands -- all helping to make them the obvious decision for us when building a franchise.”
After being named a strategic alliance partner of the Caribbean Hotel Association, Choice has been able to build a positive reputation in the local hospitality market, attracting more and more new franchisees. And with five additional hotels for Puerto Rico in the development pipeline, Choice will continue to increase their already prominent position within the country’s industry.
"We are committed to growing our brand distribution throughout the entire Caribbean," said Brian Parker, vice president, emerging markets and new business development, Choice Hotels. "We are off to a fast start with the addition of these three new properties in Puerto Rico and have a promising development pipeline for the region."
