As of June 30 this year, 30,201 travel agencies, or 76.13% of the nation’s total 39,670 travel agencies, submitted their operational data to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The data showed that the domestic tours organized by the travel agencies had drawn 7.79 million travelers in the second quarter this year, 83.23% less than the same period last year, while the total number of domestic tourists handled was 10.12 million, 78.59% lower year-on-year.
The top 10 popular destinations for organized domestic tours in the second quarter were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Chongqing, Guangdong, Fujian, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Guizhou and Hubei.
In terms of domestic trips handled, the top 10 destinations were Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hainan, Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, Guangdong, Fujian and Yunnan.
The top 10 destinations by the total number of organized and handled domestic trips were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Anhui, Fujian, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou.
