Number of flights to 11 Russian cities up by 92.7% ahead of FIFA World Cup 2018

Turkey, Italy, and Germany will have the largest number of flights bound to those 11 cities.

Airports in 11 Russian cities hosting FIFA World Cup 2018 are expected to serve 92.7% more flights from June 7 to 14 compared to the same period in the previous month, says aviation data service provider VariFlight.

The week before the tournament kicks off on June 14 in Moscow will see more than 11,000 flights to be operated to those cities.

According to the VariFlight’s database, 1,004 international and domestic air routes will link 295 airports worldwide to 13 hubs in host cities from June 7 to 14, in comparison with 838 routes and 268 airports in the same period in May. Turkey, Italy, and Germany will have the largest number of flights bound to those 11 cities.

Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Domodedovo International Airport (DME), and Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) in Moscow will be the busiest airports welcoming over 7,000 flights during the week prior to the World Cup Opening Ceremony on June 14.
