China’s high-speed railways will have full WiFi coverage and facial recognition for checking in, having already implemented online booking, WeChat payment, self-service check-in and food reservation.

Beijing-Shanghai high-speed Fuxing have full WiFi coverage, and this will be extended to all high-speed trains, Min Huang, deputy general manager of China Railway Corporation (CRC), said on December 17 at the 19th annual Peking University Guanghua New Year Forum.

China's railway experience has been significantly improved after the implementation of online booking, WeChat payment, self-service check-in and food reservation. Facial recognition check-in service for passengers will also be introduced soon.

Huang also revealed that CRC is working on corporate restructuring, and 18 railway bureaus  have already completed the restructuring.
