Airtours will operate a one-off flight from East Midlands Airport to Hainan in China, via Bahrain, on Sunday October 14.
If the flight proves popular, it might become a permanent fixture.
The tour operator will use a Boeing 763 with two cabins on board – 30 premiair gold and 267 economy - with prices starting from £666.
Airtours managing director Steve Barrass said: "We´ve scaled the last great wall of travel by becoming the first-ever tour operator to offer package-style holidays to China from East Midlands.
"Our research shows that China is one of the five places in the world people want to see before they die, and for many this would have remained a distant dream. We are making what is still one of the world´s most intriguing destinations accessible to all."
