Thai police are taking legal action against a Chinese social media influencer for allegedly flouting visa rules, days after she came under fire for a video she made that portrayed a popular Bangkok nightlife district as being unsafe for women. The case comes at a tricky time for Thailand as it tries to woo back Chinese tourists after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fliggy and Hilton enhance partnership with global flagship store launch

Fliggy, an online travel platform and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alibaba Group has deepened its partnership with Hilton in China with the launch of Hilton’s official global flagship store on its platform. The platform’s users will now be able to make direct bookings to stay at Hilton hotels in overseas destinations such as Singapore, Maldives and Bangkok. The coverage will be extended to include more outbound destinations in the future.

China's domestic tourism revenue up 114% year-on-year in first three quarters

China's tourism market experienced a remarkable surge during the first three quarters of this year, a senior cultural and tourism official said on Thursday. Domestic tourism recorded 3.67 billion visits and a staggering revenue of 3.7 trillion yuan (about 520.47 billion U.S. dollars) during the period, representing year-on-year increases of 75 percent and 114 percent respectively, figures from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism showed.

Hong Kong aims to increase flight links to more belt and road countries: airport chief

Hong Kong aims to increase its number of flight links with countries taking part in Beijing’s global belt and road trade network in a bid to boost business ties and tourism traffic, according to the city’s airport chief. 

“We’re now working hard to extend the footprint by opening more air routes to this region and, at the same time, we must stimulate business and people exchange to make sure we open up new frontiers for trade and tourism,” Airport Authority chairman Jack So Chak-kwong told an aviation symposium on Thursday.

Direct Christchurch to Hong Kong flights resume

Christchurch Airport is preparing for the very welcome return of Cathay Pacific direct flights between Christchurch and Hong Kong. The first flight of the summer season will land early afternoon on Saturday December 16, to begin the service of three return flights a week until February 29 next year.

Port Moresby set for arrival of China flight

The first direct flight from Guangzhou, China to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea will land at Jackson International Airport on Wednesday. The flight, a China Southern Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will carry 50 Chinese officials, including the deputy governor of Guangzhou. National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop announced the flight, emphasizing its potential to boost business connectivity and tourism.

Seychelles and China to work on tourism, fisheries, and other projects, says new Chinese ambassador 

Seychelles and China will seek to enhance their cooperation and traditional friendship, said the newly accredited Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles, Lin Nan. "We have discussed projects that are advancing steadily such as tourism, fisheries, Blue Economy, education and health and many sectors," she told reporters.
