If you search for an airline ticket on Orbitz.com these days and don’t book anything, rest assured that an email may soon be in the mail.
I conducted a JFK to Dallas flight search on Orbitz.com awhile ago, didn’t book the fare, and sometime later in pops an email informing me that the fare has increased $70 to $462 so I should “act now — this airfare is on the rise!”
It’s clever and hands-on marketing by Orbitz, especially when the message is paired with its Orbitz Price Assurance policy, which provides refund checks if someone booked the same flight — or hotel, for that matter — on Orbitz for less before your trip.
