Airlines from China, US on stable path to raise flights after agreement

Airlines from China and the US are on a stable path to increase flights between the two countries, recording the biggest jump since the pandemic, amid recent efforts by the Chinese and US governments to increase flights.

Hong Kong’s Greater Bay Airlines CEO plans to step down by April

Greater Bay Airlines’ CEO, the current 73-year-old CEO Hui Hon-chung, is set to resign next month. In his place, the airline's COO, Liza Ng, is poised to be Greater Bay Airlines' first female CEO.

Sichuan Airlines schedules New Zealand return

China’s Sichuan Airlines has confirmed plans to resume service to New Zealand in April after a four-year absence, further increasing connectivity between the two countries. The airline suspended flights to New Zealand in February 2020 at the onset of the pandemic having previously served the Auckland market from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Hong Kong Airlines resumes flights to Saipan

Hong Kong Airlines announced that it will re-introduce its exclusive direct route to Saipan. The airline will operate two weekly flights between Hong Kong and Saipan International Airports, utilizing Airbus A330 aircraft.

W Hotels to debut in Sanya in 2028 

Marriott International has agreed with Hainan Qianrui Industrial Development to introduce the W Hotels brand to Sanya, a popular tourist destination in China. The W Sanya, located in Sanya Bay, is set to open in the second quarter of 2028. Marriott now operates nearly 70 luxury hotels in Greater China, six of which are in Hainan.

Tongcheng Travel revenue up by 80% last year 

Trip.com-invested online travel firm Tongcheng Travel said its revenue increased by 80.7% to RMB 11,896.2 million (USD 1,652 million) in 2023 from RMB 6,584.7 million in 2022. The company reported an annual profit of RMB 1,566 million (USD 218 million) in 2023 against an annual loss of RMB 164 million. The number of monthly paying users (MPUs) rose 39% to 41.3 million last year.

Trip.com launches exclusive CHUANG ASIA-themed hotel rooms in Bangkok

Trip.com said it will be partnering with three hotels – namely The Salil Hotel Riverside – Bangkok, Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, and Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit – to extend its sponsorship of CHUANG ASIA by offering special rooms at these hotels themed around the hit reality idol search program.

Chinese entertainment projects receive global awards for outstanding achievement

Chinese themed entertainment projects have been honored the annual Thea Awards by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) for "Outstanding Achievement" in delivering tourist experiences. The "Bermuda Storm" simulator ride at Chimelong Spaceship Theme Park in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province, was among the 14 global themed tourism and entertainment projects awarded the annual TEA Thea Awards at a gala held in Los Angeles over the weekend.
