Another day, another concierge app comes to light. This time it’s Haptik, which has just raised a Series B round from Times Internet.
The chat app is supported by a team of people to help solve problems and carry out tasks in travel, such as finding flights and hotels, as well as other areas outside travel, such as food shopping.
Haptik has not said officially how much has been raised but some media report the figure at more than $11m. Tnooz has contacted Haptik for further details.
Haptik is one of a number of mobile startups getting attention at the moment – Lola, for example, has just announced funding of more than $19m and is yet to launch its personal travel service app.
Pana, formerly Native, announced funding of $1.35m last summer, and the launch of its mobile travel concierge.
Others include Bellhop (Startup pitch here), Hyper (Startup pitch here) and let’s not forget Facebook M which is in Beta testing in the US.
It feels as if the market for these sort of apps is getting a little crowded especially if well established players such as Whatsapp and WeChat continue to make forays into concierge style services.
It’s not a stretch to think solid teams or good technology from the startups might be picked off by some of the bigger boys.
Some hotel and airlines are already using these more mainstream services to engage with customers.
Most recently, KLM announced it was enabling passengers to access flight confirmation, boarding passes, check-in reminder and flight status information via the Facebook Messenger app.
