Former greater China regional director of Starwood Group, Jin Qian, will join Wanda Hotels and Resorts as President to lead this Chinese hotel group.

Mr Qian was said to be a pioneer responsible for Starwood’s rapid development in China. He applied his astute sense for business opportunities to speed up Starwood’s development, at a time when other multinational hotel groups were just testing the waters in the Chinese market,  from a snail pace with only a few properties to having nine of Starwood’s big hotel brands in China .

The brands he brought into China have since established a solid presence, and Starwood now operates 146 hotels and the largest collection of five-star hotels of any international hotel groups in China. He stepped down in May 19 this year citing personal reasons, causing much speculation in the industry regarding his next move. His joining Wanda Hotel and Resorts Group is seen as a positive move for the group.

By the end of this year, Wanda Hotel and Resorts will have 85 five-star and luxury hotels, including 38 hotels and resorts managed by a dozen of famous international hotel brands and 47 directly managed international hotel brands.

Wanda Hotels and Resorts will hold and manage over 150 hotels around the world by the end of 2018, including its Wanda Vista hotel in London, Madrid, Chicago and Australia’s Gold Coast.(Translation by David)
