Stressing on the importance of vertical industry specialisation, Cheapflights.co.uk´s David Soskin acknowledges that vertical search databases are complementary to broad-based search engines. (2/13/2007)

Soskin, chief executive officer of travel price search and comparison website Cheapflights.co.uk, compared the broad-based search engines such as Google or Yahoo, which encompass a huge breadth of information, to specialised search tools which focus on one particular sector during a conference in New York recently. According to him, being specialised, such sites often offer a better consumer experience. The companies that advertise on these search engines reach a focused audience.

Thus the specialised sites can provide more qualified leads than standard search engines. The advertisers on vertical sites are gaining exposure to would-be buyers who are much closer in time to a purchase decision.
