Amadeus further boosts hospitality arm with acquisition

Amadeus is building out its hotel industry services through the acquisition of Hotel SystemsPro, with terms of the deal undisclosed.

The purchase has been made by Amadeus-owned Newmarket, which was acquired by the global distribution giant 18 months ago for $500 million.

US-based Hotel SystemsPro, which specialises in hotel sales, catering and maintenance technology, will now be integrated into Newmarket to further expand its product range.

Hotel SalesPro, the main product of the acquired company, increases efficiency for mid-scale hotels by automating the sales and catering delivery process.

Jeff Hiscox, CEO of Newmarket, says:

“The combined hotel sales and catering space offers immense potential to drive increased value to our customers. Hotel SystemsPro’s suite of products fits perfectly with our overall sales and catering solution set, which is also an important component of our broader strategic end-to-end IT vision for hotels.”

Like its GDS rivals, Amadeus has been steadily building out its hospitality portfolio in recent years as it moves to develop revenue streams away from the traditional distribution business.

Interesting to note however that in its half-year results announced last week, the numbers showed revenue from air still dominates the business.
