Amadeus acquires AirIT, targets North America with airport technology

Amadeus is looking to bolster its airport tech expertise with acquisition of AirIT, a division of ground service giant Fraport.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Orlando, Florida-based AirIT is an airport technology specialist which works with 30 of the top 50 busiest airports in the US.

The acquisition follows a similar deal by Amadeus to acquire Asia-Pacific focused airport IT provider UFIS in February 2014, also for an undisclosed fee.

Amadeus says the deal will allows it to “significantly” expand its presence in the North American airport IT sector.

Head of airport IT, John Jarrell, says:

“As the pace of recovery picks up over the next few years, the North American market, already the biggest airport IT market in the world, will represent an enormous opportunity for growth. “

Specifically, Amadeus wants to be able to combine its own revenue management and hosting systems alongside those created by AirIT such as airport management technology.

Airport using the AirIT PROPworks system include facilities in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami and Charlotte.

AirIT CEO Betros Wakim says:

“There are clearly dynamic synergies between the two companies, which will further enhance our ability to deliver complete end-to-end solutions to our respective customers globally.

“With our combined offerings, expertise, and infrastructure, we believe that we will have the opportunity to serve our customers even better.”
