Home Inns Group has joined China Lodging Group in making multi-million RMB investments in Shanghai-based online independent-travel startup Lvmama’s luxury tent resort Campsort that was launched a month ago. This is the first time the two major hotel groups make a joint investment.
An observer said that Home Inns chairman Neil Shen and CEO David Sun are optimistic with Campsort, which is said to have booking till January 2015 and has a second hotel under development. Campsort has also received invitations to open hotels in popular scenic locations such as Shanghai’s Dishui Lake, Zhejiang‘s Thousand Island Lake, Putuo Mountain, Tianmu Lake and Taihu Lake. Rustic luxury hotels are gaining momentum in a market saturated with business and mid-range boutique hotels, prompting major hotel groups like Home Inns and China Lodging to jointly invest.
Following the investment, Home Inns and China Lodging will offer management and marketing support and will share its loyalty club members with Tent Hotel. Campsort is likely to enjoy rapid growth with support from these two leaders in the Industry.(Translation by David)
