Xiamen Airlines invests RMB1.2 billion to start Jiangxi Air

Xiamen Airlines and the Jiangxi regional government have formed a joint venture investing RMB 1.2 billion and RMB800 million respectively to launch Jiangxi Air in June next year.

Xiamen Airlines and the Jiangxi regional government have formed a joint venture investing RMB 1.2 billion and RMB800 million respectively to launch Jiangxi Air in June next year. The airlines is inviting public submissions of logo and livery designs, its radio signal name and air routes. 

”Xiamen Airlines and the Peoples Government of Jiangxi Province courted and are now ready to enter the next stage of approval. An operation license is just around the corner,” Xiamen Airline’s Nanchang branch manager said on November 12. 

Jiangxi Airlines Examination Committee Chairman Lexi Wang said, “Xiamen Airlines and the Jiangxi government signed a 'Memorandum of Cooperation' to jointly invest in Jiangxi Air on August 13, 2014. According to the memorandum Jiangxi Air will be based in Nanchang’s Changbei Airport with Boeing 737s as the main aircraft type for its fleet. 

"It will strive to officially start operations in June 2015 with a five-plane fleet and increase this to eight planes by 2016. The airlines will add five to eight new planes to its fleet every year to total 30 planes in 2020. The route network will cover the major domestic lines in the initial stage, with routes connecting Nanchang with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu. In the next phase they will open routes to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, West Asia, Japan, and Korea," he said.(Translation by David)
