Lastminute.com future in question as Sabre touts sale?

The rumour mill is running with speculation that Sabre has put a For Sale sign over UK-based lastminute.com.

One media report says US-based Houlihan Lokey has been appointed to advise on the sale and that Sabre has already approached potential buyers.

Existing online travel agencies might be interested although it’s hard to see what else Lastminute.com might add to proceedings given the footprint the likes of Expedia already has in the UK.

Another more attractive avenue might be private equity if potential is seen in exploiting the “Lastminute2 name in a market when same-day operations appear to be thriving.
