UK-based rental marketplace Vive Unique has raised $5.9 million from a local venture capital firm Smedvig Capital.

Vive Unique says it will be using the investment to increase the employee numbers and to expand both homeowner and guest acquisition activity.

In addition to listing vacant properties online, Vive Unique also fully manages the homes, ranging from housekeeping to around-the-clock customer service.

London owners on an average receive about $1,690 per week via Vive Unique’s service, according to the company.

Vive Unique CEO, Jonny Morris, says:

“We are keen to invest in our technology and operations as we strive to bring outstanding levels of service and complete convenience to the home rental industry.”

Founded in 2011 by co-founders Claire Whisker and Jonny Morris, the service lists hundreds of homes in various destinations including London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Venice, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Smedvig Capital’s other travel industry investments are Streetcar and Zipcar.
