A minority stake in the company has also been snapped up by Insight Ventures Partners and the management team will hang on to a “significant shareholding”.
UK broadcaster Sky has pegged the deal to value the company in the region of £300 million. Competition authorities will have to give their approval to the sale before it can be closed, CarTrawler says in a statement.
BC Partners says the investment will be used to help CarTrawler expand further internationally, as well as building on its technology services to car rental partners, intermediaries and other suppliers (such as airlines).
