The collection of travel companies that came together to oppose the Google acquisition of ITA Software arguably lost the battle, but are now hoping to win the war.
Three months after the deal was given the thumbs-up (with conditions) by authorities in the US, FairSearch has now launched Searchville, a new drive to educate and lobby consumers and businesses to Google’s “anticompetitive behaviour”.
The members remain the same – Kayak, Microsoft, Travelocity, Sabre, TripAdvisor, Expedia et al – but the focus now is on highlighting where Google is apparently hitting other areas of the web, such as search display, acquisitions, exclusive partnerships and alleged restrictions on advertising platforms.
