AirAsia claims mobile booking record, highlights need for more open reporting

Happy days for AirAsia it seems with news that its mobile channel is apparently breaking records for bookings to a low cost carrier from a handset.

Happy days for AirAsia it seems with news that its mobile channel is apparently breaking records for bookings to a low cost carrier from a handset.

The airline reckons a recent promotion designed to push consumers to book via handsets and the web led to bookings in the “hundreds of thousands of Malaysian Ringgit” range during a single day.

AirAsia will not disclose exact figures, but is confident that a milestone has been reached.

Gerry Samuels, founder of the provider of AirAsia’s mobile system, Dublin, Ireland-based Mobile Travel Technologies, says from its discussions with many airlines it appears the volumes achieved are certainly record-breaking.
