Published: 12 Dec 2008: Student and youth travel provider STA Travel has launched an online travel auction site.
The site will offer travellers an option to bid online and ultimately determine how much they pay for their holidays. All bids start from $1.
The selection of destinations to be auctioned-off online include: Tokyo, London, LA, Hong Kong, Toronto and Vancouver.
STA Travel´s product and marketing director, Basil Hyman said, "Our customers are young, savvy and smart. They want to mould the world they live in - whether this is about taking control of their careers, their environment or the news they read. The STA Travel Auction site now allows them to dictate the price they pay for their holidays, too."
Participants need to register online for the auction on the STA Travel website - www.statravel.com.au/auction and registration is free.
Users can log-in at any time to monitor how their bid is placed, with the highest online bidder claiming victory at the end of the travel auction period. Auction bids are automatically placed in set increments until the maximum bid is reached. This maximum limit can be increased at any time - should the contender wish to improve their chances due to the intense competition.
The STA Travel Auction site hosts a range of travel options up for auction such as: accommodation, tours, package-holidays, travel passes and more.
