(29 June 2007) Travel search engine Sidestep is looking for a replacement for European boss Kevin Eyres, who will step down as managing director in the next three months.

Eyres will remain as a non-executive director of Sidestep Inc, acting as a consultant on other projects, but will pursue interests outside of travel including running the Young Presidents Organisation in the UK.

The announcement follows news that Sidestep has appointed its first European director of business development. Tim Simmonds joins from Lastminute.com, where most recently he was head of white labels following positions in its business development, holidays and cruise divisions.

Prior to joining Lastminute.com, Simmonds worked for Marriott International as EMEA sales manager.

Sidestep chief executive and president, Rob Solomon, said: “Tim’s extensive online travel expertise at fellow Internet pioneer lastminute.com is exactly what we were looking for to bolster our European team and build our presence and partnerships within Europe. “Tim’s knowledge of the white label market in particular will be indispensable to our growth plans.”

Eyres said Sidestep is already looking for a new managing director and hopes to hand over during the third quarter of 2007.

The appointment of Simmonds follows that of Rhys Jarvis, who joined in April to oversee airline and advertising relationships.
