Qantas hides super cheap first class seats on Airbnb

Qantas has partnered with Airbnb since 2016 and allows its frequent flyers to earn points on Airbnb bookings, as well as hosting.

Qantas has hidden cheap tickets for frequent flyers in an unusual location: Airbnb.

For the next two weeks, eagle-eyed frequent flyers will be able to pick up a deal on Airbnb - but they’ll just need to find the first and business tickets first.

Frequent flyers need to find the listings, which are advertised for as little as $20 for two first class tickets, before being contacted by Qantas to complete the booking using their points. The $20 payment is used as a holding fee before being returned to the passenger when they pay with points.

For two first class one way tickets from Melbourne to Los Angeles, frequent flyers will need to fork out 50,000 points - significantly lower than the 144,000 points usually required per seat.

Savvy searchers can also find two business class seats one way from Sydney to London for 50,000 points, down from 128,000 per seat.

“Some of our members fly with us more than 100 times a year so it can certainly feel like they’re living on one of our planes, eating, sleeping and working at 35,000 feet,” Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth said.

“Our business and first class suites have all the hallmarks of a typical Airbnb house with comfortable beds, movies, quality cooked meals and experienced friendly hosts.”
