MakeMyTrip gross bookings rise by 26.9% in Q2 2019

For the quarter ended September 30 room nights for increased 21.8% YoY, air ticketing segments increased by 29.5% YoY, and bus ticketing increased by 53.3%.

India’s leading online travel company MakeMyTrip announced its unaudited financial and operating results for its fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2018. 

Highlights

*  Gross Bookings increased 26.9% YoY in 2Q19 to USD 1.2 billion.

*  Revenue for 2Q19 was USD 103.6 million and Adjusted Revenue increased 25.3% YoY in 2Q19 to USD 160.1 million.

*  Room nights for Standalone Hotels Online increased 21.8% YoY in 2Q19 versus 18.1% YoY in 1Q19.

*  Air Ticketing – flight segments increased by 29.5% YoY in 2Q19 versus 17.1% YoY in 1Q19.

*  Bus Ticketing – traveled tickets increased by 53.3% YoY in 2Q19.

*  Results from Operating Activities was a loss of USD 39.8 million in 2Q19 versus a loss of USD 61.6 million in 2Q18.

Financial Results

Revenue. The company generated revenue of USD 103.6 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2018. The revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2017 stood at USD 152.9 million.

Air Ticketing. Revenue from air ticketing business was USD 41.1 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2018. Revenue from air ticketing business in the quarter ended September 30, 2017 was USD 40.3 million.

Hotels and Packages. Revenue from hotels and packages business was USD 44.9 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2018. Revenue from hotels and packages business in the quarter ended September 30, 2017 was USD 98.3 million.

Bus Ticketing. Revenue from bus ticketing business was USD 11.8 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2018. Revenue from our bus ticketing business in the quarter ended September 30, 2017 was USD 11.0 million.

Other Revenue. Other revenue in the quarter ended September 30, 2018 was USD 5.8 million. Other revenue in the quarter ended September 30, 2017 was USD 3.3 million.

Loss for the period. As a result of the foregoing factors, loss for the quarter ended September 30, 2018 was USD 47.0 million as compared to a loss of USD 62.3 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2017.
