Beijing Capital International Airport remained the world's second-busiest airport by passenger traffic in the first half of the year, said Civil Aviation Data Analysis, a civil aviation data platform based in Shanghai, on Thursday.
The airport witnessed 49.38 million passengers during the first six months this year, with an increase of 5.91% year-on-year. Aircraft movements during this period were 302,407, up 3.77% compared with a year earlier.
Hong Kong International Airport, which handled 36.91 million passengers as of the end of June, a 3.32% increase year-on-year, took the eighth spot on the list. Meanwhile, Shanghai Pudong International Airport was the ninth busiest, with passenger traffic of 36.69 million and aircraft movements of 250,768, up 7.48% and 2.95%, respectively, compared with last year.
