Qatar Airways was announced as the world’s best airline in 2017, and Hainan Airlines was ranked 9th in the global top 10 list by aviation research firm Skytrax.

Hainan Airlines, China’s fourth-largest carrier, was listed among the world’s top ten airlines in 2017 by a leading aviation research firm Skytrax.

Hainan Airlines, the only carrier in mainland China that was nominated in top 10, was ranked ninth in the World’s Top 20 Airlines 2017, up three places from last year, according to Skytrax’s annual passenger survey.

Qatar Airways was announced as the World’s Best Airline, followed by Singapore Airlines, ANA All Nippon Airways, Emirates and Cathay Pacific.

Hainan Airlines also placed sixth for World’s Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness and tenth for the World’s Best Cabin Staff, as well as receiving the Skytrax Five-Star Airline award for the seventh consecutive year.

As for the Big Three Chinese state-controlled carriers: China Southern was ranked 23, up 9 places from last year. China Eastern was ranked 72nd, up 7 places. Air China was ranked 98 this year, down 11 places from a year before.

Skytrax president Edward Plaisted said that the Skytrax jury has witnessed Hainan Airlines' growth into a leading global carrier characterized by its innovative and quality services.

Some 19.87 million eligible entries were counted in the final results of this year’s survey, which was held from August 2016 to May 2017.
