Bus ticket technology service Distribusion has captured a Euro 6 million Series A funding round, in a bid to push the company into new markets in Europe.

The Germany-based company says it will also use the capital to ramp up its product development, including the integration of new bus operators and resellers to the platform.

Backing the company for the Series A are Northzone, Creandum and HR Ventures.

Seed investor Frühphasenfonds Brandenburg and some unnamed angel investors are also said to have participated in the latest round.

Berlin-headquartered Distribusion currently provides around two million bookable tickets from more than 60 bus operators in 25 countries.

Some 4,000 travel agencies worldwide are connected to the system.

Specific regions that Distribusion will target next include South America and Southeast Asia, founder and CEO Julian Hauck says.

The company also expects to treble its workforce in Berlin and Bonn by the end of 2016.

Northzone principal Tim He says:

“Distribusion is revolutionizing intercity bus travel. With their innovative technology and business model serving both bus operators and travel agents, they are in a strong position to take on the fragmented intercity bus market globally.”
