Spotlight on how travel consumers behave when searching on mobile devices

Metasearch brand Kayak has produced a comprehensive report into the behaviour of mobile travellers – covering everything from search patterns, booking trends and usage.

The results are pretty interesting.

The study was drawn from its UK user base, examining data from millions of flight, hotel and car searches during 2014 and the first months of 2015.

Kayak has released the findings to coincide with data that shows two-thirds of all mobile searches are taking place on its app and average product spend is, curiously, 5% higher when a product is searched for on a mobile device.

So, what did Kayak find out?

Of its mobile users:

· 33% on the iPhone app

· 18% on the Android app

· 15% on the iPad app

· 17% on a tablet browser

· 17% on a mobile brower
