Booking Boss raises $2 million to bring activities software to Europe

Australia-based tours and activities technology provider Booking Boss has secured a Series A financing round of $2 million.

The investment was led by Michael and Daniel Dempsey, the founders of payment technology company Ezidebit following its acquisition by Global Payments in 2014.

Other participants in the round include Acequia Capital and former CEO of Wotif, Scott Blume.

Booking Boss CEO Renee Welsh says the company will use the funds to break out of its home market and target operators in Europe.

Formed in 2013 (TLabs here), Booking Boss has created a SaaS-based series of tools to give customers (such as tour operators, zoos and wildlife parks, museums and cooking schools) a handle on bookings and the ability to manage their inventory.

Customers also use its platform to push product into intermediaries such as Viator and GetYourGuide.

Welsh says he expects “much of our growth in the coming year to come from Europe”.

“The popularity of subscription-based, cloud-based software for delivery of solutions for business applications has not been lost on our industry.

“Low set-up costs, low monthly fees and immediate access to updates are all powerful incentives for European operators to look beyond their local market for the best solution.”
