OTA Tuniu and Lvmama have announced they will form a comprehensive strategic partnership with both sides contributing in their specialized fields.

TravelDaily, December 12, 2014 – Major OTA Tuniu and startup Lvmama have announced they will form a comprehensive strategic partnership with both sides contributing in their specialized fields –Tuniu in outbound travel and Lvmama in attractions and self-drive holidays.

Tuniu’s co-founder and COO Haifeng Yan said that Tuniu’s outbound products would be sold on Lvmama’s site after the partnership. “Tuniu is a market leader in outbound travel operations, which contributes to 70% of the company’s turnover in 2013. One out of every six Chinese visitors to Maldives booked their trip with Tuniu. Now Tuniu can bring even more quality products to Chinese travelers through the partnership with Lvmama,” he said.

Lvmama CEO Xiaosong Wang said the two companies would further integrate their resources to realize the full the potential of the partnership. ”Lvmama was the first OTA to offer attraction bookings in May 2008 and is now a market leader the in this service. At the same time, we are rapidly expanding our outbound and domestic tourism operations. Lvmama has total control over our core products as we source and design our packages including attraction passes with or without accommodation and road trip packages with routes designed around attractions. Following the partnership, all these products will be sold on Tuniu’s site,” he said.(Translation by David)
