China’s star-rated hotels suffer 2.088 billion loss RMB in 2013

In 2013 the hotels in China’s 50 major destination cities reported more losses than profit. Hotels in 20 cities made total net profits of 5.175 billion RMB,

In 2013 the hotels in China’s 50 major destination cities reported more losses than profit. Hotels in 20 cities made total net profits of 5.175 billion RMB, while hotels in the other 30 cities suffered total losses of 3.169 billion RMB. Meanwhile hotels in other cities reported losses of 4.094 billion RMB. The combined profit-loss balance for hotels in the entire country was 2.088 billion RMB in loss.

By the end of 2013, 830 of China’s 13,293 star-rated hotels had closed. Statistics from 11,687 hotels surveyed show total losses of 2.088 billion RMB.
