The new trans-Pacific route commenced on Monday 16 June 2014 and will now operate six days a week, every day except Sunday.
Flights depart Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at 1421, arriving in Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at 1935 the following day. The return service then departs HKIA at 1025, getting back into Seattle at 0824 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line.
Flights will operate using a 234-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft with business, premium economy and economy class cabins, and in-flight Wi-Fi.
The Hong Kong route continues Delta’s strategy of creating an ‘Asian Gateway’ at Seattle. The airline now serves six Asian hubs direct from Seattle, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Seoul and Hong Kong.
“With the addition of the Hong Kong flight, Delta now offers our customers more than 2,500 daily seats to the top business markets in Asia and Europe from our Seattle hub,” said Mike Medeiros, Delta’s vice president for Seattle. “As we continue growing in the community, we remain committed to consistently providing the award-winning experience that we’re known for both in the US and around the globe.”
Delta has increased its peak-day departures from Seattle by more than 30% in the last year, and by December 2014 it will offer 95 departures to 33 destinations from the northwest US city.
