Revealed: Who’s the digital elite among US travelers
The number of people who own and use mobile devices to plan and purchase travel services has expanded from 5% of all active travelers in 2011 to 33% today, a spike of more than 600%, according to one of those rare US surveys that are actually based on sound statistical methodology.
The travel marketing consultancy MMGY Global (formerly known as YPartnership) recently commissioned a survey of US households that was statistically representative of the nation to find out more about who are active users of digital devices.
How do members of the “digital elite” travel?
The survey of 1,258 US households, conducted by polling firm Harrison Group, identified a new demographic it calls the “Digital Elite” — people who own and access the Internet on both a smartphone and tablet.
