July 23, 2009: Google is already a big player, if not the player in the travel industry. At the company's Q2 earning call last week, Google spoke publicly about the further potential it sees in the travel sector. Enough food for some to again start speculating about Google's future in travel.
With Google´s recent introduction of City Tours and Favorite Places, speculation is rife that Google will 1) enter the travel market, 2) launch an online agency and become another Expedia, or 3) develop or acquire a metasearch engine to compete with Microsoft´s Bing Travel.
