19 August, 2008- BCD Travel, a leading global corporate travel management company, announced today that it has more than doubled its presence in sub-Saharan Africa. Five new country partners have been signed over the previous two months and another five will be signed by the end of the year.

This dramatic expansion reflects the equally dramatic increase in customer demand and the relevance of BCD Travel´s new hub-region approach for supporting multinational clients across Africa.

In the past 6 months, BCD Travel has won and implemented in excess of USD $50m of new business across Africa and the Middle East, and more than USD $60m in the pipeline for the remainder of the year. "The growth," says Greg O´Neil, BCD Travel´s managing director and senior vice president for Growth & Emerging Markets "has been dramatic. Oil, telecommunications and non-governmental organizations have all shown strong demand. What is also exciting is that much of this growth is fuelled by new multinational companies with head offices based in Africa, the Gulf, India, China and the ´tiger economies.´ Trade patterns are switching and BCD Travel´s regional hub approach gives us the adaptability to follow these changes."

BCD Travel has signed exclusive partnership agreements with the following leading independent travel management companies: AGV Globetrotter (Gabon); Voyages Bourdon (Madagascar); Atom Travel Service (Mauritius); Relax-Voyages (Senegal); Winglink Travel & Tours Ltd. (Tanzania).

This expansion into five new markets, building on the existing presence in eight other countries, means that BCD Travel can deliver its unique travel management solutions to national, regional and global corporations located across the continent.

At the end of 2007 BCD Travel took the strategic decision to develop Africa within its hub strategy, followed in March this year with the appointment of a strategic development manager (SDM) for the region, tasked with driving expansion and business development, introducing new technology and operational processes and raising awareness of the BCD Travel brand.

The results have been phenomenal. O´Neil commented, "Corporate clients and prospects throughout the region are excited about our new way of doing business. They want their travel programmes professionally managed and they want to work with us because we have demonstrated a commitment to invest in both people and in our platform within the region. The traditional way of doing business here is not enough, but neither is it sufficient to try and handle everything offshore."

At a time when many companies are seeking to reduce costs in an uncertain economic climate, the implementation of a managed and consolidated travel programme to drive savings and minimize costs, makes more sense than ever. BCD Travel´s aim remains the same, to simplify the procurement of travel for corporates by investing in resources on the ground, in technology and also in processes, thereby allowing business travellers to focus on their core activities and not expend resources on making their own travel arrangements.
