British Airways Agrees to Sell 10.5 Percent Stake in Air Mauritius

Thursday, 26 June 2008: British Airways has agreed to sell a 10.5 percent share in Air Mauritius which it has held since 1973.

Thursday, 26 June 2008: British Airways has agreed to sell a 10.5 percent share in Air Mauritius which it has held since 1973.

The 10.5 percent stake will be sold to the Mauritian government for 3.2 million pounds (US$4.05 million).

"We invested in the airline when it was a start up airline. It is now a successful carrier, operating to the highest standards and no longer requires our involvement and support," said Robbie Baird, British Airways´ area general manager for Asia Pacific.

"I´m pleased to say that this sale has been done with the full cooperation of Air Mauritius and the Mauritian government," Mr Baird said.

The sale is expected to be completed in July.
