Accor consolidates presence in China

Daily news, 23 May 2008: HONG KONG – Accor, is focusing on developing a strong presence in China and is extending its footprint in the country.

Daily news, 23 May 2008: HONG KONG – Accor, is focusing on developing a strong presence in China and is extending its footprint in the country. Accor has so far launched six brands in China – Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure and Ibis.

The new Pullman brand, introduced to China this year with the opening of Pullman Dongguan Forum and Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay Resort & Spa, will see another five brand new Pullman hotel opening by 2010.

Accor’s luxury brand, Sofitel is also set to open two properties, Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 and Sofitel Huanghe Sheshan Resort Shanghai, later this year.

Mid-scale brands Novotel Beijing West Zhongguancun, Mercure Hydro Majestic Kunming, and Mercure Wanshang Beijing will open this year.

Accor’s economy brand Ibis continues its rapid expansion in China with the opening of its 11th and 12th hotels in China, Ibis Changshu and Ibis Hangzhou Xiasha, in January. A further fourteen Ibis hotels are scheduled to open during the year.
